happy halloween...and some other stuff

miss sadie ann.

 this girl is so cute.
yeah, yeah.  i'm her mom.
whaddya expect?

carving our pumpkin.

a very flattering picture of me, i know.
contact the modeling agents.
wanted: 5'2", stretched out, saggy, and cellulite.
nice ring to it, eh?
scooping out pumpkin guts with a spoon.
she was a little hesitant at first.
me, white trash?  no.  don't all
parents make their kids go outside
in the freezing evening temps to get
a picture with their pumpkins?!

sick.
the last few days have been brutal.
with a capital freaking B.
she's had this nasty croup-ish, chest cough...
and cold...and fever.
i've never seen her so miserable.
good thing we're on the upswing.
this little girl just had shots.
she hasn't been her normal, mellow self.
i want my kids back.

crater.
my dad rented out the crater
for an hour so we could all swim.
so fun!

launi.
love me some launi.
bffffe.
[best friends for freaking ever]
as if you speak acronym.
matt & skylar.
mid crater diaper change.
always with a smile on.
mi familia.

fall festival.

we went to genet's fall festival a
couple weeks ago.  the camera man thought i
was my dad's wife.  who's he complementing?
i know my dad looks young, but do i look
old enough to have teenagers?  seriously?
yeesh.

matt saving a turtle that was crossing the road.
so grapes of wrath.

when matt had a week off we went up the mirror lake
highway and spent the afternoon at a lake.

matt took skylar to the scerra pool.
clearly they consumed something with ketchup.
or is it catsup?!!
skylar LOVES being a 'princess.'
so grandma got her a big, fluffy tutu!
[side note: the other day i asked skylar is she was my
princess.  she paused, and said, "no, i'm the queen."
wtf?]
the lovely lady
feeding the ducks with her daddy.
who also got her dressed in a church dress and
jeans.  nice.

best day ever--the day we went to dinner with greg and whit
and they told us she's PREGO!  i literally screamed out loud
and told the waitress.
apparently i don't get out much.  but it is something i've been waiting
for for a LONG time.  good job, guys.
sadie lady.
riding the turtle at the aquarium.
total bad ass.
with tats to prove it.
helping grandma do the dishes.
we blessed sadie at my parents house on august 26.
matt only had a couple days off, none of which fell on a sunday.
so, we had immediate family there and it was great.
beautiful blessing, perfect day.
except for the fact that i took NO pictures.
sorry sadie.

fly baby.
hanging out at genet's fall festival at school.
face painting, balloon animals, relay races, bounce house.
wahooo.
a little nervous while getting her face painted.

we went for a drive to see the leaves last week while matt was in town.
so happy we did 'cause it snowed the next day.
every time skylar gets out of the car she hangs onto the hang holdy thingy
and says, 'these are my hangy bars.  take a picture.'  so i do.
here they are!

kickin' it in the bouncy chair.
this kid is so mellow.
love it.
about 2.4 seconds after this picture sadie burst into tears.
which then prompted skylar to burst into tears.
loves those coin operated "rides."
sampling some cake batter
[red velvet, not ketchup]
after her and matt baked the cake, she wanted to
blow out candles.  so we did.
she's getting SO smiley.  i love it.

first family portrait.
skylar: mustache drawn on in pen.
sadie: pissed.
matt: looks a little scared.  i think he's thinking, "is this my life?!"
jess: "yes, this is my life."

in other pictureless news, we're not doing much.  i have spent damn near every day at my parents house holed up in my old room.  i love having the extra help {especially at bed time} and the company at night.  not so sure they love three extra guests, but they've been troopers.  i owe them big time.

matt's almost done fire fighting.  hale-freaking-lulah.  it was harder than i thought.  can't wait to have him home.

skylar is getting so independent and sassy.  her frequent phrases are: you're driving me nuts, duh, maybe baby, i'm a sassy pants, and shut up.  nice, i know.  she loves dancing and has been introduced to justin beiber (thanks genet)--so she's always sings 'baby, baby, baby, oohhh, like baby, baby, baby ooohhhh.'  she's on her way to being potty trained but not there yet.  hopefully by christmas...

sadie is so chill.  she's the mellowest, happiest kid around.  she's a champion sleeper which i SO appreciate.  she's pretty spoiled--loves to be held and won't nap unless she's in my arms.  why do i do this to myself?  i did the same thing with skylar.  oh well.  soon enough she won't want to snuggle me anymore, so i'll take it while i can get it.

as for me... i'm here.  still sane.  mostly sober.  and keeping it real.

xoxo.
