so when you're near me darling...

So, my mom and I went to see Mamma Mia last week and good God almighty was it ever GOOD!!! I have been listening to ABBA's greatest hits ever since and wishing i was in greece singing at the top of my lungs while performing a perfectly choreographed dance that appears as though it was spontaneous...

it's a MUST see (though probably a must see with a group of girls...not so sure matt would've liked it...not like that's going to stop me from making him see it or anything!)

the Gods themselves!

how good was meryl streep's voice too! All the actor/actresses actually sang and it was SO impresesive

our own attempt at some 'reverse graffiti' and some german pancakes

while i was at a doctor's appointment in park city, matt met up with his buddy steve nyman (aka: the human tank) and did some mountain biking. three hours, several miles, and a few crashes later, he turned up looking like this:

a pathetic attempt at 'reverse graffiti'

oh so dirty

he looks like a chimney sweep!

....................................................................................................................................

i woke up saturday morning to the sweet smell of german pancakes made by matt. we had just been talking about them a few days earlier, and how good they are, so it was a nice and tastey suprise!!

they taste better than they look...

and last but not least, matt came home with this a few weeks ago:

and a 'paid half day off' coupon for being a brown noser, i mean, over achiever at work. he's a good little rei employee and will hopefully make a good supervisor in a few months!! way to go matt!

a music snob AND a color snob?!

So, most people who know Matt know that he L-O-V-E, LOVES music. If you know him that well, you probably also know that he tends to be a music snob (i try to get him to at least "appreciate" different kinds of music, but it usually doesn't work). So when we added this new music making feature to our blog, I was sure to include Matt so that he could add a few of his favs (and no, Madonna & Luda are not his--sorry for any profanities or intense urges to 'shake your money maker').
After selecting what I considered a decent mix of music, the website we used asked what color we wanted our music box to show up as. After scrolling through all the options, I opted for pink, not that I'm a pink girl, but other than black and grey, it was the best they had to choose from. You would have thought I told Matt I was going to paint his nails and put a bra on him. He did NOT want pink. Guess he's a color snob too...or not in touch with his feminine side...or something...?!?

But, guess who won that one?!

(To avoid any future "clarifying" posts from Matt, I should note the following:
I have a great husband who lets me get away with more than most... thanks matt!)

Reverse Graffiti

This is Matt, I never post on this so I just thought I would clarify. Everyone needs to click on these links. The first two are of this rad artist and the third one needs no explanation. Enjoy:

breakfast of champions...

Perhaps my brother in law, Clay, will be the only one to fully appreciate this post, but I've gotta say, this was my breakfast...and the best darned breakfast I've EVER had.
P.S. I'm thinking about joining the double D "diet," Clay: doughnuts & dew!

USOA

We started celebrating at 4:45am when we woke up and got ready to go fishing. We met Matt's parents and a suprise stow-away, Cayden, and drove up to Strawberry (AKA: the Berry). After catching a few fish (except for Matt, Cayden, and I), we went back up to Park City for some grub and fireworks. We had our own little firework show and then went over and watched the big timers put on by the city. It was so nice to have a day off work, even if we did have to wake up at the butt crack of dawn, and to spend time with family.

As per our newest Olsen/Parke/Larsen/Williams family tradition, we had our July girls night! We went to Carey’s house, feasted on sandwiches and fruit, scrapbooked, and got our toes done. I’m pretty sure we’re all hooked on the toe nail lady—this meticulous, adorable lady who uses acrylic paint atop regular nail polish to create these insane designs. It was, as always, fun to spend some kid and husband free time with the ladies!!
