Yes, after 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 days, Matt has returned from his 'utah landforms' field trip. I've missed him so much! WELCOME HOME!!!!

On March 8, 2008 Matthew Gale turned 25.  A good solid number, I think.  A quarter of a century.  Nothing too bad.  To Matt, however, turning 25 was like turning 90.  Though most of his anxiety and moodiness was inflated, and just to make me rant about how 25 isn't old, I tried to ease his transition by getting him 25 presents.  Getting everything for a wind-up sushi toy to the last season of 'King of Queens,' he excitedly opened all the gifts that had been wrapped and crammed in the corner of our family room.  We also went out the breakfast (matt's fav) at Ruth's Diner, and to dinner at the Himalayan Kitchen.  All in all I'd say it was a pretty successful day...except for the fact that he got one year older.

P.S. Matt's favorite presents were probably the new golf club he got from his parents and the wii he got from mine...they will both be put to good use!!

indulge me, please

it's not often i do something that actually make me say, "wow, i done good," but, i think i may have done it with this bookshelf. i bought it unfinished, painted, sanded, stained, and sealed it, and then put it in our "office" and decorated it. and i've gotta say, if i had a garage and more time, i think i could really get into refinished and/or finishing furniture. there's just something about it that's really satisfying.

Presidential Race

This is Matt (you may also know me as Jessi's husband), and this is my first entry on this blog. It is not about us or what we have been up to but just about some stuff that I have been thinking about, so if you will indulge me for a moment I am going to spray some thoughts and maybe something will stick. I have been thinking about the much-anticipated presidential race that is going on right now in this fair country of ours, and I have tried my best to inform myself about all of the candidates and their stances on most of the major issues. I really want to love one of the candidates so much that I put one of their signs in my front yard, but I have not had that revelation...until today. I have always been a Ralph Nader fan, but now I am coming out and endorsing him as my presidential candidate. I know he isn't going to win, probably not even close, but I am definately voting for him. It really bothers me that we can have 31 different flavors of ice cream, 20 different kinds of Coke, and 64 colors of crayons to choose from, but only 2 presidential candidates. I am sure there are a few people out there who really think that McCain or Obama is their choice because they have the same values as them, maybe so. But Neither of them come close to what I believe in, so why are they the only "real" choices? I hate the fact that I am choosing the leader of my country based on the fact that, "they were the lesser or two evils." I don't want that to be my president, I want my president to be someone who believes in what I believe in. I want there to be as many quality choices for president as there are quality choices for ice cream. I don't want people to either be republican or democrat. Both parties are crooked and the only thing they care about is control, and they are doing it for their party, not for the country. Vote Nader.
