a dish washer...

Lately, this sign hasn't been more true (hanging above our kitchen sink):

Kinda matches with this:

I really want one of these:

So that my sink always looks like this:

While I'm sick of dishes, drying racks, and feeling like there could be little microbes on my dishes due to the lack of a steam dry and or a power scrub, I must admit I rarely do the dishes. Matt and I have a deal: I clean the apartment & he does all the dishes. Not bad, right...until you unlock your front door and walk into a wall of stank seeping from the kitchen sink. And, to make matters worse, we have no disposal. Oh yeah, it's fun. Now, I know most of the people reading this will say, "well, i never had a disposal" or, "you should've seen the first apartment I lived in..." so let me tell you all a little somethin'...it sucks just as much now as it did then!!! I swear, the next time we move, my requirements are: no "sceebies" (as Merilee would say), a coutertop (ie: more than 1 square foot), a disposal, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. Call me high maintenence, lazy, or whatever else you've got...but a girls gotta have certain modern conveniences.

Signed,
Desperate for a dishwasher

weekend getaway...

Matt and I went backpacking at Naturalist Basin in the Uinta's last weekend. We hiked in about 10 miles, set up camp, got attacked by mosquitos, hiked around, and relaxed before hiking out the next day. We had originally intended to stay two nights instead of one, but we both wanted to watch the olympics...mildly pathetic, I know. It was absolutely beautiful, though, and we had a blast!

starting off on the shoreline trail

so far to go...

this awesome waterfall we found...don't worry, i won't post

the nudey pictures of my jumping in in my underoo's!

Jordan Lake

making out with the sign...hey, at that point we had gone about 20 miles in 24 hours...I was just happy to almost be done!!!

After backpacking, we met up with Missy, Ken, and family in Charleston. We were hanging out having a grand old time when all of the sudden Matt rides up on my little brothers dirt bike with blood running down his leg. I ignored his request for a bandaid and took him to the ER where he left with nearly 20 stitches. Needless to say, the rest of our weekend was pretty mellow! We had dinner at Matt's parents house on Sunday, went and checked out Greg and Whitney's new place in Spanish Fork, and then went home and watched more olympics. we're junkies, what can i say?!!

elise...a non-stop playing machine!!!

P.S.
Oh, and when I say we got devoured by mosquitoes,

I wasn't kidding...these pics of Matt's back don't do it justice...especially

because he never had his shirt off:

lions and tigers, and bears...oh my!

Matt just finished his summer class and decided he needed to go backpacking before fall semester stars next week. Our camping attempts have actually been quite pathetic these past few months (years?!), so we're due to go. I'm a little scared of bears in the backwoods, though, and hope I'm not faced with any of the following:

If we're not back by Saturday, send a search party...preferably of strong, handsome men with 6 packs and nice tans...if they don't find me, i'll be SURE to find them!!

just kidding matt...

at least i have cute toes...right?!

So, most of my family have seen our cute toenails on Merilee's blog, but I still had to post my very own pic. It was a blast to get our toes done with Kylee and Halle, who beamed from ear to ear the whole time...perhaps one little girl more than the other!!

On to the next adventure...

Matt and I went our on our first boat run yesterday with Mike, Debbie, Greg, Mer, Kylee, and Halle. The weather was looking pretty grim, what with the dark storm clouds, wind, and rain, but we toughed it out and actually ended up with blue skies and sunshine. Of course we had a blast spending time on the water with good company, water skiing, and tubing...even when I flew off the wake, came down on the tube which, in turn, bounced me like 10 feet in the air and then face first, belly flop style into the water. I wish I could say it didn't hurt, but man oh man. It was like one of those cartoons where the dude runs into the wall, or something, and steps back with spinning eyes and little stars circling round his head. It totally stunned me! But, after taking it easy on the boat for a few minutes, I was back out for round two. And for the record, let's just say that tubing with two adults on that triangle-y shaped tube is like suicide! Matt was hovering over me as we were flying across the wake which wouldn't have been so bad if I wasn't slightly traumatized from my earlier experience and totally freaked out that my head was going to smash into his chin and send up both flying into a mangled mess in the lake. Kylee, Mer, and Halle also tubed, taking it a bit easier, and I've gotta say, Kylee is a stallion for holding on to some of the sharp turns and big waves!! And let's not forget about big Dave. He was a pro, not even knocked out of the tube by Matt. All in all it was a blast and we're sad it's probably our one and only time to get out this year.

P.S. Our first run on the boat was up to the Berry on the 4th of July for some fishing...where I lost my favorite Coach sunnies (some fish is totally styling). So, Matt bought me these kick ass crockeys (spelling?) that float to keep my sunglasses safe! He sported them this time since I forgot my sunglasses.

me? speeding?!

Here's the internal struggle I face every time I see those blasted red and blues flashing behind me: do I stir up some horribly sad emotions, channeling every worst case scenario/sad chic flick ever, and go the 'you can't ticket me, I'm crying' route, OR do I smile, hand over my license and registration, and thank the man/woman for pulling me over and ticketing me?!? Of course there's the third option, unbutton the blouse and mash the sisters together seductively...but that would require having nice, big sister to mash. So, I took the smile and hand it over option not only with my first ticket, for speeding, but also for my second, when the wonderful U of U 'rent a cop' pulled me over...for what, you might ask?! I didn't fully stop at a stop sign at a dead end...that's right. The only option on this particular street is to turn right--there's no cross traffic, no traffic at all, actually. As if that wasn't bad enough, when he looked at my registration, he noticed my dad's name is on it. Of course I explained that is was because my dad gave me the car and I just haven't switched the registration yet...that answers that, right?!? WRONG!!! Being the apparent idiot that I am, I didn't know that I've been breaking the law for the past year by driving with improper vehicle registration, which he kindly ticketed me for too.

Did I mention that these tickets were one week apart? Yeah, feeling good.

new 'do'

once i got a bad hair cut

and i did this

but then years later i got a good hair cut

and now i look like this

Yes, I chopped all my hair off and...I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! So here's to a big sloppy virtual hug and kiss to Em!!! Oh, and the best part was that Matt didn't know I was doing it. He thought I was hanging out with my grandma all afternoon.  Needless to say, he was quite surprised when he got home from work to see my blonde, short hair!!
