halloweeny

we had our annual halloween party at my parents place in charleston. normally we have a theme or rely on the immense creativity of our friends, and this year we learned the importance of that...as half of us didn't dress up. regardless, it was so great to spend time with those we don't see often enough.

a lobster, a bad ass, and a sunflower

...

we also had our annual olsen family halloween party. it's so fun to see all our nieces and nephews in their get-up. and a shout out to all the big people who dressed up too. though i'm not going to lie, clays dyed brows and stache won, hands down. a gold star for you, uncle clay (slap it high)!

the bad ass costume was really amplified by the
fact that i was still in my church clothes...

with a capital 'S'

oh sure, you've heard of a shart, you know, where you fart and a little shit comes out...but have you ever seen one of this caliber:

and now, a couple cute ones to make up for the hideousness of the above picture.
pink toenails
(matt LOVES them...)

goofing around with our camera's color effects
and that's all she wrote.

girls day

ya-ya (aka: my mom) came down and took us to the zoo.
the weather was perfect and it was great to get out of the house and be outside for a while.
not to mention the good company.

riding a hippo

up close and personal with the rhino

watching the new baby elephant at hogle zoo

the adorable new baby elephant (yes, eating her mama's crap--right after the mom peed and shat the biggest, most impressive load i've ever seen).

all bundled up enjoying the zoo
(really just dreaming about boobs)

well, hello.

thanks for the new jammies, ya-ya. i love you!

thanks mama.

the sunshine through the storm

while on our way to beaver for matt's grandmothers funeral, we had a moment of pure awesomeness. the purest awesomeness ever. so pure, in fact, that we were able to capture it on film:

that's right. with a 'relish me' license plate, the official oscar meyer wiener mobile brought a ray of sunshine to our otherwise somber morning.

then there was the funeral. sad, or course, but with a big splash of humor and fun memories from matt's dad (big daddy mike), who gave the eulogy.

the whole olsen gang.

grandma helen.

a few smiles on the way home.

skylar was an absolute gem the whole day. she hardly squawked at all and slept nearly the entire car ride down and back. we've got ourselves a real travel trooper.

...

dear aunt missy,
i love my skinny giraffe jammies and am happy my mom get them out for me to wear before i outgrow them. sure the snaps bulge open around my fat belly and they're skin tight, but i love them nonetheless. so much so, in fact, that i barfed my dinner up all over them right after my mom took this picture--a true sign of love and appreciated (okay, and bingeing).
love and kisses,
skylar
