um. aren't pregnant women supposed to be somehow cosmically protected from any un-pregnancy related sickness? apparently i missed the boat on that one.

which is worse?

The times of a relatively flat tummy are gone (possibly forever), and the pregnancy belly has arrived in all her glory. So now I ask, which is worse: 

people avoiding the fact that my belly is growing, diverting their eyes and avoiding the topic

 or 

those who say that you can hardly tell I'm pregnant. Um, hello man? You can hardly tell? It looks like someone shoved a cantaloupe in my belly. And what the hell do you think I looked like before if you think I look the same? 

I don't really get offended or have my feelings hurt, but i do find it rather amusing. 

And for those of you wondering what the belly really looks like:

Just kidding.  I haven't actually taken any profile pics yet. I figure I'm just over five feet and have no place to go but out...meaning within a few short months I will look like a waddling house on legs. Can't wait.

for my mudda

I have been threatened to lose readership if I don't post something by 11:47am. My mother, the one threatening to leave, even went so far as to provide me with a list of interesting things I can share with you all. So, in no particular order:

-and i quote, you know you're pregnant when "you can eat cold pizza right out of the box after consuming congealed mac and cheese" (gee, thanks ma)
-Matt is a superstar...working hard at REI and then coming home to do his chores (ie: the dishes) and to take care of me (ie: letting me hold the remote)
-we have been eating off a kitchen table that i refinished and then lost the screws for--so it's balancing on it's base. It's quite impressive to watch us carefully balance our meal on the table so as not to tip it over. maybe my goal for '09 should be to get my lazy behind to Home Depot and buy some screws...
-this one is painful to admit: i have made a bit of a 'parting of the seat cushions' on our couch from where i plant my lazy behind (the one that hasn't been to Home Depot) every afternoon. It's seriously turning into the black hole...once you sit there, you just kind of sink in. it's a problem. one i hope resolves itself with either the breaking of my tv or childbirth (don't judge me).
-my family picked my up on monday for a surprise--we went to fashion place mall, drew each others names, were given 10 dollars, and then split up to find a present for that person. it was pretty fun. amidst the nasty panties, the cool stickers, the shoe-box slippers, and the funny nose glasses, the best present just may have been the balking (spelling?) rubber chicken that my little bro got my dad. my dad, apparently easily amused, had so much fun making that little chicken squawk and squeal that we had to beg him to put it away. even when we left, he stuck it out the window to get peoples reactions as we were stopped at red lights. it was actually very entertaining.

and, that's it. i hope you learned something new about me other than i'm a lazy good for nothing sack of baby growing girl. but, even that was explained by my ma who said, "remember God himself was tired after creating the same thing you are creating in your very tummy...a little person that you will be responsible for forever and ever. This is wonderful, not boring." Thanks mom.

un-dead

this is going to be one ginormous post to catch up and prove, contrary to popular belief, that we have not been dead for the past few weeks (okay, maybe months...).

turkey day:

we spent thanksgiving at a cabin in zion with the dahl family (sans cory).  unfortunately the plans of four wheeling, hiking, and canyoneering were set aside due to the snow and rain.  so much for heading south to beat the storm.  but, we had fun nonetheless.  the house was great, the food was good, and we found fun things to do to keep ourselves entertained (mostly included barfing and sleeping for me).

holiday season:
after turkey day, things started looking up for me (thank the high heavens), and so we were actually able to do some fun things. we started by going to temple square with our bff's missy & ken, and their girls elise and addie. we had a pizza party on the bus (ken is a bus driver for utah county schools and was up for a field trip) and then had fun walking around the lights.

christmas parties:

we had fun parties on both sides of the family, but, unfortunately we misplaced our camera right after our temple square extravaganza, and have no pictures...

christmas eve and day:

again, no pictures of our holidays.  we spent christmas eve in park city with the dahl family and many dahl relatives.  it was so nice to see everyone and enjoy good food and even better company.  

due to the raging snow storm on christmas eve/day, we didn't think we were going to make it down to orem for the olsen family festivities, but, with a little luck, we made it down in record speed: 2.5 hours!  Not too late to catch lunch and our present exchange, though.  it was fun to see everyone and to hear the kids tell what santa brought.  i'm excited to have that christmas morning magic come to our house this year!

we spent the rest of the holiday season hanging around.  matt had to work, so i hung out in park city with my family...and kept the house company while everyone left me to ski.  sadface.  i'll make up for it next year.

new years:

we did nothing.  literally.  we hung out at home, watched some tv, and i was in bed by 10.  with no one to kiss but a sleeping zombie wife, matt followed and didn't even make it to the new year.  

jackson hole:

our first real trip together (paid for and planned by us) was to jackson hole.  we stayed at the snow king resort right outside of the main square of jackson hole, and had a blast.  we slept in, ate good food, walked around the shops, saw some movies, and [matt] skied.  the week went by far too fast, as they always do when on vacation, and i'm already dreading work tomorrow.

pregnancy update:

nothing new, really.  i've stopped throwing up, am feeling better, and have much more energy.  i still throw back a unisom and am in bed by 9/9:30, but i figure i may as well get as much sleep as i can now.  i'm also starting to get fat and, as some of the doctors (men, of course) that i work have pointed out, i have been 'blessed' with beginning enlargements from the pregnancy 'boob fairy.'  nice to know that they're watching me grow.  i have my 17 week appointment on wednesday, which should be fairly uneventful other than setting up my my anatomy ultrasound...and that, my friends, is what I'M excited for.  i want to buy things.  shop 'til i drop. 

so, i guess that's all for now.  we'll try to be better bloggers for '09.

i'm not lame

in order to keep ourselves off ken's 'lame blog list,' we had to make a post.  our holiday was great--time off to hang out and see family, rest, eat good food, and, of course, to ski (for matt, at least).  unfortunately we misplaced our camera right before christmas and have no pictures, though i'm working of family to email me some pics (you know who you are).  we're heading out to jackson hole tomorrow, and will post (with pics) when we get back.
