around christmas time skylar starting saying 'dadadada.' i knew she would say his name first--don't all babies?! and even though she doesn't have any real correlation between matt and 'dadadada', i've been waiting patiently ever since for her to start with the 'mamamamama.' and today it happened.
melt my heart.
how can those two little syllables make me so happy? ma-ma. i suppose it's due primarily to the fact that now she likes me. she needs me. she laughs at me when i dance around like a goon. she likes me to sing to her. she'll cuddle up with me for a nap. one day, that will end. i won't understand anything. i'll embarrass her. i will be un-funny and weird and then, when she says 'mom,' it won't have the same ring to it (something about it coming from behind a slamming door or followed by some choice phrase said in passing). but, i will still be the same, love her the same no matter how she says my name, and probably more.

It is so great when they say mama. Tyson still only says dada. What's up with that?? Well, I am experiencing both. The waiting for those "two syllables" and the slamming of the doors and "hey mom". Yep...a little different.

I think mama is better than I love you. Maybe because it means the same thing, even though they don't know it!
I can't remember the first words my kids said but i was excited just as you are right now. Have a happy val.
